I know I'll be happy with pretty much anything I get, but here's my dilemma.
I'm planning to get a Tony Dixon, probably one of the plastic ones. The thing is, the single piece, non tuneable is only $55CAD right now, which seems like a great deal. I think I'll play it for a while, but I may not play with other people much.
If I do, I think I'll regret the 1 piece, so then I'm looking at the tuneable 2 piece flute... That's about twice as much. But then I'm thinking, while I'm doing a 2 piece flute I might as well get the one with interchangeable heads since I don't have a low whistle.
That's like, $150 CAD. Then I'm looking at those and see that the one with the aluminum body is about $200 CAD.
So now I've talked myself into spending 4x as much... But hey, it's a more flexible instruement and maybe the aluminum body really is that much better...
Any thoughts?

Just wanted to give my two cents on how I was frugal recently! **I also want to point out that this type of frugality is for those who are able to spend more upfront for savings in the long run**
I recently got to the point where I needed/wanted a couple things that I use near-daily, but had been putting off. I spent probably 5-15 minutes per item search ebay/mercari/poshmark. Ebay was by far the best, especially since I was making offers on items, but poshmark and mercari did have some promising results.
I also want to recommend vitacost and swanson health - they have a surprising amount of useful items and often have 15-25% off and free shipping after $25.
3 bottles of thayers toner = $22 (ebay) vs $32 (new)
5x spearmint tea = 4.25/box (Swanson, sale + free shipping) vs $5/box (my grocery store)
8x Brita Stream filters = $28 (ebay) vs $28 for only 6 from Amazon/BedBathBeyond
Overall, saved myself a quick $20 or so when factoring in the filters!
Total saved = $10 + $3.75 + $7 = 20.75!
Was $20 worth the 1-2 hours I spent doing this? In my opinion, yes, because otherwise I would have just been watching Netflix. Is it much easier to just buy these things at the store when I go? Also yes, but a bitch loves a good deal, ya know?

Like for example yesterday I ate lots of pastries and chips and but I also ate some fiber, I noticed today’s trip to the bathroom in the morning, i had to strain a bit because it came out but stopped halfway and required some straining to come out, next time should I just go when I have a huge urge? Because I had the urge that stopped for some reason but still went to the bathroom and waited until it came out. Next time should I just wait a few minutes or hour to see if I get the urge so it comes out easier?

This post contains a theory that I've been playing with over the last few years while learning how to cultivate motivation, self-control, and consistency. Whereas there are different arguments on how to properly approach this kind of thing (i.e. motivation, discipline, consistency, self-improvement), this theory encompasses and integrates many of these approaches into one larger, unifying perspective.
What you get then, is a method to balance these different aspects to your greater advantage. This is new technology (speaking metaphorically) and if you take a minute to read this all through, I sincerely believe that this will create surprisingly good results in your life.
You should be able to use this framework to very quickly get back on top of your life, get organized, get disciplined, and stay that way.
I'll keep this as short as possible, but I challenge you to really give this due consideration and read it carefully.
Here we go:
For maximum self-discipline, balance your maternal and paternal aspects So when we say 'paternal' we mean fatherly and 'maternal' refers to motherly. We'll use these words because we're talking about how you nurture and raise yourself into higher levels of growth, accomplishment.
It's important to note here that when we have these kinds of discussions, (i.e. on getdisciplined) we're discussing how do you get yourself to exercise at the gym. In a strange way, there are 2 characters - you and yourself. So the key to understanding all of this is realize that on one hand we are ourselves - but also we are in a sort of leadership position over ourselves.
The better the leadership; the better the results.
Paternal Leadership
'Paternal' leadership refers to the encouragement to move forward into our growth path.
The healthy paternal aspect says "go for it!" and "just do it!" and "you got this!". It encourages you to try your best, to 'leave it all on the court'. The paternal aspect senses your potential and insists that you actualize it. It insists that your potential for greatness is real and deserves to be nurtured, seen, and acted upon.
The unhealthy (or 'excessive') paternal aspect says "don't stop, keep going!" ... but now we're not having a good time anymore. The unhealthy paternal aspect is disappointed when we stop, doesn't believe we've done enough, doesn't believe we're doing enough, and says that we should be doing much better than we are.
Healthy paternal says: "You're capable of so much more!" Excessive paternal says: "You should be doing way more!"
Notice how both messages seem similar - but the difference is that one is respectful, the other is not. One is concerned about your health, happiness and well-being... and the other is exclusively concerned about the 1st place trophy.
Eventually if we have too much unhealthy paternal, we collapse under the sheer weight and brute judgemental condemnation of never being able to fully live up to its ever-escalating standards.
Maternal Leadership
'Maternal' leadership refers to the recognition and acceptance of yourself as you are now.
Healthy maternal leadership says "You're wonderful just as you are" and "You're doing so great!" and "All that matters is that you tried". Whereas the healthy paternal aspect is proud of you based on your progress through the levels - the healthy maternal aspect is proud of you based on who you are right now, independent of everything else.
This is the realm of unconditional love, unconditional support, unconditional acceptance. Here you are seen, loved, held, embraced, uplifted.
Maternal leadership gets unhealthy/excessive when it interferes with our growth. There's a bittersweet knowledge in all mothers that their children start off completely helpless and independent - and then eventually (hopefully) become totally dependent and eventually take leave of the nest.
Unhealthy maternal leadership says "you're perfect as you are, so there's no need to grow". It says there's no use in trying, it's all pointless. We're just going to die anyway. May as well just enjoy ourselves. You don't want to dream unrealistically - that just sets you up for disappointment. Just stay in the womb!
Identify which aspect you're over-identified with and make the movement back into balance. It's a relatively safe assumption that if you're reading this, you're very likely over-identified with the paternal aspect. This means that you're constantly hard on yourself, disappointed in yourself, ashamed of yourself.
If you found you were rolling your eyes at the whole 'maternal' section, then this would definitely apply to you. You are perhaps totally unwilling to acknowledge that this is hard work, that you're doing your best, that you feel overwhelmed sometimes with life.
Please keep this in mind: By exploring the opposite polarity of what you're used to, you're not at risk of over-identifying with its opposite.
Since you're already over-identified with one side or the other (likely paternal), there's this assumption that you'll swing HARD over to the other side and become totally complacent and lazy. This won't happen.
Instead, you'll find yourself coming back into balance. Motivation will come back online. Why do I say this? Because imagine you had a boss who perfectly balanced their maternal & paternal! Imagine your boss (or teacher or parent) gave you excellent, inspiring, challenging work. Encouraged you to do your best, but also acknowledged how hard you're working and how much they appreciate you.
What would you do for this boss?
What would you do for you if you approached yourself this way?
I'll stop here lest this goes on for too long. But hopefully you see what I mean by now. Try this out - try experimenting with the opposite polarity and see what happens when you balance them out.

2021.11.30 11:50 Ls2goat Opinions on losing the last 10 lbs

I’ve been on a weight loss journey since March eating in a calorie deficit combined with weights/cardio. Here are my stats:
Male, 31 years old. 6’ tall
Desk job, weights 4 days/week, light cardio 3-4 days/week
Calorie intake has been 1940 daily the entire time. I usually have 1-2days/week where I eat close to or at maintenance calories (depending on weekend activities). Cheat meal maybe 1-2X/month. I’m calculating my maintenance calories to be around 2300 cals/day.
Starting weight: 240 Current weight: 199 Goal weight: 190
Heres why I am questioning how I should proceed. I’ve been able to put on quite a bit of muscle/recomp in the process of this but I’m getting to the point where my weight loss is slowing down and I feel my muscle mass is slightly dwindling. My strength has very slightly decreased although I feel great energy wise.
When I started, I was losing almost 1.5 lbs a week now I’m down to about .75 lbs a week. I know this is still pretty healthy pace but I’m torn on what I should do. 190 has been my goal and I think that will get rid of the last of my little beer belly.
So… the ultimate question is how to proceed. Should I keep my diet/training the same, lower calories, increase cardio? My ultimate goal is sustainability and retention of muscle mass at this point. And of course getting rid of the last of my beer belly. Thanks for reading!

Hey guys, I'm 21 and I was looking to get some advice on these things :
-> What is my hair type?
-> What should I be using? Please dont recommend actual products instead I'd like to know which types of products like Cream or Clay or Conditioner.
Some info :
-> Growing up I never used shampoo or conditioner, just washed with hair or sometimes bar soap.
-> Even now I never use conditioner, only use shampoo. Dabbled with cheap conditioners a bit but they make hair flat and bogged down for me.
-> Sometimes my hair has volume but mostly it is thin and flat like you can see in pictures. Especially when I want them to look good, they are flat and thin and lifeless. So thinking of using a daily hair cream for the first time and maybe some clay.
->Hair is worst in summer when air is dry. Lose all moisture. Cant stress this enough. Hair loses life in summers.
->I dont care too much about styling, just want good nourished hair that look healthy.
